George Floyd’s fiance, Courtney Ross, is now speaking out after the brutal murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis, MN police officers. And her words are a stark contrast to the response of the people of Minneapolis who are currently protesting his murder by rioting.
You can’t fight fire with fire. Everything just burns. And I’ve seen it all day today.
She went on to say:
People hate, they’re hating! They’re hating. They’re hating. They’re mad. And he would not want that. He wouldn’t! He wouldn’t. He would give grace! He would! He would stand on that. Today he would still give grace to those people.
Watch the video to see her reaction:
George Floyd’s fiance seems to be mischaracterizing the people of Minneapolis as “angry” and “hating” and she is overlooking the fact that people are tired and hurting!
Black people are tired of being killed by police officers in this country. And the “anger” people are showing is a reaction to the pain of Black lives not seeming to matter in this country.
Personally, as a Christian I do not support violence. I believe vengeance is the Lord’s.
I will take revenge; I will pay them back. In due time their feet will slip. Their day of disaster will arrive, and their destiny will overtake them.’ -Deuteronomy 32:35
However, I do not support purposefully mischaracterizing people as angry and hateful when they are just reacting to the hate and anger that is directed at them!
We can only heal if we get to the root of the problem, and the root of the problem is America’s original sin: racism!
