It’s #ThrowbackThursday and and this old news story is creeping back up! One of the stars of Love and Marriage Huntsville – which centers around six self-made millionaires in Huntsville, AL – has come a long way since his troubled past, which included an arrest for attempted robbery.
In 2006, 23 year old Martell Holt was arrested for trying to steal an ATM machine! Martell was accompanied by his family, including his uncle Samuel Holt and his Aunt Deborah Holt along with an additional accomplice, Rashan Carter. The foursome attempted to break into an ATM machine, but their plan was thwarted by police who noticed two of the men cutting the telephone lines to the bank.
A foot chase ensued and the two men hid in a ditch behind a McDonalds for hours before Martell and his Aunt came by car to rescue them. However, police recognized the car that Martell was driving and stopped them to question them, which led to Martell’s arrest along with his Aunt, Uncle and family friend.
The news story appeared in multiple publications, including The Decatur Daily News, which you can read below.
Martell has since pulled him self up from his bootstraps and has been making his own money, instead of trying to steal money from ATM machines. In 2008, Martell graduated from Alabama A&M University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education. Just three years after his arrest, Martell co-founded Holt & Holt Enterprises with his wife, Melody. And from the looks of things, it has been uphill ever since for him.
As a newly minted reality star (Beyonce recognized his wife!) I’m sure Martell is prepared to discuss this blast from him past. And hopefully Martell uses his past mistakes to demonstrate to young men that your past doesn’t define your future.
