Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Β –Proverbs 18:21

Director Matthew Cherry is living proof that their is power in our words. His short animated film, Hair Love, took home the Oscar last night, after he had predicted that his work was Oscar worthy many years before.

And this one…

The animated short film tells the story of a father learning to style his daughter’s hair.

Director Matthew Cherry tweeted what his full acceptance speech would have been if he didn’t get cut off and in it he highlighted the need to normalize Black hair and protect Black people from hair discrimination.

He also brought along high school student, DeAndre Arnold, who was told by his Texas high school that he would need to cut his dreadlocks in order to participate in his high school’s graduation ceremony.

Via the Washington Post:

In his remarks, Cherry called for federal passage of the CROWN (Create a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair) Act, a California law that prohibits discrimination based on hair style or texture. New York and New Jersey have also passed the CROWN Act, and other states are considering similar legislation, according to theΒ CROWN Coalition, a network of civil rights and advocacy groups.

Sounds like a set up to me. It was all planned and staged because he’s unknowned and he did a short about a hair video. This is probably a relative or friend to the family, the young man. Their probably kin to the Cherry’s from Est. Tx. , In which Gabrielle Union favors the Hashaways from there that’s probably where Dawayne Wade comes in at. It’s all a farce to introduce a new unknown person. “Hollywood does it everyday, an old trick…hahaha…!!!” “Their all intertwined, there are no coincedences, no ma’am ; thank you very much!” The Cherry’s helped raised a distant cousin of mine and lately a lot of people have passed away so the old becomes new and the new keeps sacrificing and thriving, so on and so forth. “Good day, good luck and Godspeed!” I’ve halfway figured my family out, there always intertwined with the rich and famous, the “Have and Have Nots,” and we’re the “Had but got Stolen and Forgotten” ; good day!”
