Alright y’all so yesterday, Dreka Gates, the wife of rapper Kevin Gates posted a picture of her and her husband on a private jet where she was treating him to a foot massage.
Pastor John Gray is doubling down on his decision to be apart of 45’s controversial meeting with “inner city pastors” to discuss prison sentencing reform. Since the meeting, the President has given a “thumbs up” to a prison sentencing reform bill that previously seemed hopeless.
Pastor John Gray posted a news article about the President’s decision on his Instagram with the caption:
The purpose I went for. The result I prayed for.
The Instagram post does not allow comments, which is similar to the meeting the “inner city pastors” had with the President, where they were not allowed to question him. In fact, the comment feature on all of Pastor John Gray’s most recent Instagram posts has been turned off.
In this post, Pastor John Gray is essentially saying that he got what he wanted out of the meeting because the President gave a “thumbs up” to the prison sentencing reform bill.
But what about Pastor John Gray’s church members that are giving him a thumbs down for letting the President use his presence for a photo opportunity? Allegedly, the President was planning to give the prison sentencing reform bill a thumbs up months ago. And this meeting with “inner city pastors” aka Black pastors was just a photo opportunity for the President’s re-election campaign, which he has already started.
So whether those “inner city pastors” came to the meeting table or not, the bill was already going to receive the President’s approval. And when you think about it: if the meeting was literally to help the President make a decision on the prison sentencing reform bill, wouldn’t the President have invited people who’s work impacts prison sentencing – like lawmakers, judges, attorneys, etc.?
Yes, pastors help former inmates re-enter society in some instances, but the work of “inner city pastors” doesn’t directly influence prison sentencing. So obviously the President’s decision to give the bill a thumbs up was not a result of meeting with these pastors. And I don’t know why a man as intelligent as Pastor John Gray thinks that it was.
This person on Twitter pretty much summed up my feelings on these pastors meeting with Trump:
After witnessing all of the backlash that Pastor John Gray has received I can’t help but wonder why he didn’t just listed to his wife. He said his wife told him:
My wife @grayceeme told me “If you go, no one will hear what you say. They won’t understand why you’re there. And any good that could come out of it will get lost in translation.” Wise words from a loving, discerning wife.

Optics. It’s never about what it is. It’s about what it looks like. My wife @grayceeme told me “If you go, no one will hear what you say. They won’t understand why you’re there. And any good that could come out of it will get lost in translation.” Wise words from a loving, discerning wife. I had not one thing to gain by being there. Not. One. But I asked the Lord when I was asked to be present in this initial meeting about potential prison reform-that could greatly end up benefitting many people who look just like me-Lord, Do you want me in that room? My first mind was no. The pain of so many is too real. The hurt. The isolation. The sense of disenfranchisement. The real hate that has bubbled to the surface of the national discourse. I myself have been vocal about my personal disagreements with key policy decisions of this administration. I have everything to lose. Credibility. Reputation. Every natural inclination says stay home. Don’t get played. It’s gonna be a photo op with no substance. But I did the one thing I can’t shake: I prayed again and asked God. Do you want me in that room? My attendance gives the answer. My heart was pure as was my motive and intention. But the pain of those who have been hurt is real. And I would be a dishonorable man not to acknowledge that. But I will honor what I believe was the mandate on my life to be there and available to God should He choose to give me voice. This post is in no way attempting to invalidate the visceral reaction of those who can’t imagine why I would be in the room. The question becomes who did Jesus turn away from? This said, I went to this meeting to listen. And I do pray for comprehensive prison reform so people can have the second chance they need. And I also understand the pain and questions. May my heart translate beyond the optics. (OH YEAH, the pastor who said the current president was the most pro-Black president ever WAS NOT ME-so get that STRAIGHT) love y’all. This post is closed to comments. This my heart. It needs no commentary. #swipeleft
What do you think of Pastor John Gray continuing to defend his meeting with 45? Leave a comment and let me know!
In case you missed it, 45 sat down with a group of inner-city pastors from all over the country during a White House roundtable last night that allegedly focused on prison reform efforts. Pastor John Gray, along with a number of other Black pastors were among those invited to the meeting.
In the past, 45’s meetings with Black leaders have been very controversial. And they seem to be more about 45 looking like he’s trying to help the Black community than him actually helping the Black community. And the people that have met with 45 seemed to be more about “the look” and the “optics” of being seen meeting with the President more than anything else.
So it’s no surprise that after meeting with the President and Pastor Darrell Scott making that jaw-dropping statement that 45 is a “pro-Black president” Pastor John Gray had to get on social media and defend his choice to attend the meeting.
Many other pastors were invited and chose not to attend the meeting. Pastor Jamal Bryant decided to go live and explain his viewpoint on why it was so problematic that these particular pastors did attend the meeting.
What do y’all think about 45’s meeting with these Black pastors? Do you think it will actually be productive or will it just be another photo opp? And what do you think about Pastor Jamal Bryant’s commentary that these pastors were invited to a meeting where they weren’t even allowed to ask questions?

Le’Andria Johnson issued a public apology today for the comments she made about the church and Marvin Winans.
What do you think of her apology? Sincere or damage control?
Le’Andria Johnson has been going through it lately!
First she posted a Facebook Live video where she went off on Pastor Marvin Winans, who she says treated her like a “peasant” when they met. The link to the full video is in the description box. However, it’s her words at the very end of the video that seem to have caused some trouble for her. At the end of the video she says:
“Love, peace and happiness to those who know the truth and who are tired of this Christianity bull skit”, as two of my favorite vloggers would say: RANDOM TV REVIEWS https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQi80HN6NqJNVyM4XqXeT0Q
Then later, Le’Andria made another live video where she talks about how tired she is of being the gospel artist “Le’Andria Johnson” and everything that goes along with that. She says she actually could be a bigger artist like Kirk Franklin or even Beyonce, but it’s not in her heart to do that. She also seems very upset that certain churches or conventions don’t want to book her because she cusses. And she says that Essence Fest is coming up, so if they want to cancel her appearance there – then they’re welcome to cancel her because she can’t be controlled.
So after making both of those videos, Le’Andria made the following video today where she reveals Essence actually did cancel her performance at Essence Fest. And she explains specifically why it was cancelled.
The links to all of Le’Andria’s full videos can be found in the description box below.
Please leave a comment and let me know what you think about what’s going on with Le’Andria Johnson? Do you think she’s just hurt and lashing out? Or do you think there’s something deeper going on?
Erica Campbell, one half of the gospel super group Mary Mary shocked fans this weekend when she debuted her new PINK hair!
Erica has a new line of hair extensions and wigs that she just launched with hair stylist Vernon Martin. And she was at Essence Festival this weekend showing off her new pink hair and she had a booth where she was selling hair extensions.
She seemed to get a lot of support from her fans and it looked like she had a lot of customers in line waiting to buy her hair. But when The Shade Room reposted her today, there were a lot of critics in the comment section saying that she shouldn’t be rocking that pink hair. Like this person who asked:
And another person who asked:
And yes, I think a lot of people feel that you’re hair is supposed to be left it’s natural color, especially in the COGIC church community.
This person actually put some scripture references in the criticism of Erica, so we’re going to get into this one. She said:
Let’s take a look at those scriptures before we go any further. Proverbs 7:10-12 says:
Then out came a woman to meet him, dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent. 11 (She is unruly and defiant, her feet never stay at home; 12 now in the street, now in the squares,at every corner she lurks.)
OK, so she basically said that Erica is dressed like a prostitute standing on the corner.
1 Timothy 2:9 – 10, which was written by Apostle Paul says:
I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
1 Peter 3: 3 – 4, which as written by Apostle Peter says:
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
So with those last two scripture references I can see what she is getting at, but I definitely don’t think Erica Campbell is dressed like a prostitute like the first scripture implies.
Anyway, she continued:
Wow. That’s a pretty strong statement to say that Erica Campbell is misleading people who are looking up to her as a “sister in Christ”. But we all have our opinions.
My opinion is closer to these people who commented:
I’ve always thought of Mary Mary and Erica Campbell as crossover gospel artists. Like, they are trying to reach people that are not saved and bring them into the church. So that’s part of the reason I’ve never judged their appearance as harshly as some other Christians do. I assume that they present themselves a certain way to reach the people that they are trying to reach.
But what do you think? Do you think Erica Campbell doesn’t look “modest” enough for her to be a leader in the church community? Is the pink hair “too wordly”? Or do you think she’s being judged too harshly?

This is the second video in my series called #churchtoo in which people are exposing the manipulation, bullying and outright deviant behavior of leaders in the church. In this Facebook Live video brother Pierre Whitlow exposes a “prophet” for sleeping with his wife.
He does not name the prophet by name in the video, but he does name Kingdom City Church, which is located in Charlotte, NC, where Prophet Brian Carn is the Chief Executive. If you’re not familiar with the title Chief Executive being used in a church, that church defines it as the person who is there to “convey the God-ordained vision while overseeing the healthy development and reproduction of Kingdom City Church.”
So basically, Prophet Brian Carn oversees the entire ministry at Kingdom City Church. And brother Pierre was brought in to the church to direct the music ministry.
This is brother Pierre’s account of what happened. It has been condensed for those of us who just want to get to the meat and potatoes of what happened. But the full video is available in the link in the description box.
Please remember these are allegations.
And please note that after these allegations became public, Prophet Brian Carn got on Facebook Live and tried to sell tickets to a conference he is holding soon.
Gospel artist and entertainer Kirk Franklin recently shared on Instagram that his little sister was just sentenced to 30 years behind bars.
This is not the first time that Kirk Franklin has shared about his younger sister’s legal troubles and her being behind bars. In 2015, on his Patheos blog he shared:
For over ten years, my younger sister was incarcerated in a facility here in Texas. She was in love with a young man who was drug dealer. He introduced her to not only selling drugs, but using as well. When he was arrested for drug trafficking, she was arrested along with him. After she served her time, she was brought before the review board who determined she was ready to be released and brought back into society. The documents were signed and she was set free… but only on paper.
After a few months back into the free world, it became obvious to me rather quickly that my sister was still in prison. It’s what they call being institutionalized. She quickly started using again, becoming very reckless with her body, which turned into her using it as a means to pay for her habit.
But what about the papers that were signed offering her freedom and a new life?
Why was she not able to embrace the freedom the documents offered?
Because the words on the paper did not possess the power to give her what she truly needed: new data or a new mind. Basically she couldn’t experience the written word to be the living word, so she continued being a slave to her past.
Kirk wrote those words in 2015, not knowing that just three short years later, his little sister would be back behind bars – this time for 30 more years. By the time she gets out of prison she will have spent more than half a life time behind bars.
And the reason for that is just like Kirk said, the words on the paper [giving her her freedom] did not possess the power to give her what she truly needed: [which was and is] a new mind. She needed a whole new mindset, which was something the prison couldn’t give her.
The Bible says in Romans 12:2
So if you’re wondering how Kirk Franklin’s sister ended up back in prison, or better yet, if you’re wondering why YOU end up in the same situations you’ve faced before, it’s because a new mind is needed to escape old situations. And a new, or renewed mind, only comes from reading the Word of God.
