D.C. Young Fly, whose real name is John Whitfield, is known for his versatile talents as a comedian, actor, and internet personality. He became well known through his appearances on the MTV improv comedy show “Wild ‘N Out,” where his comedy and improv skills made him a fan favorite.

D.C. Young Fly’s comedic style often incorporates jokes about his personal life experiences, cultural observations, and playful interactions with the audience.

And aside from his comedic work, D.C. Young Fly has also ventured into acting. He has appeared in movies such as “Almost Christmas” and “The New Edition Story” and had a starring role in the 2018 film “How High 2.”

But what some people don’t seem to know or remember is that DC Young Fly has also released his own music, including mixtapes and singles, showcasing his rapping and singing skills.

And so yesterday, DC Young Fly posted a clip of one of his original songs to his Instagram account and it was actually kinda polarizing for the people seeing him sing for the first time.

In the clip, DC is belting out lyrics about “standing ten toes down” and “never folding,” all the while displaying his pain.  So it’s easy for viewers to assume that he made the song about the loss of his girlfriend.  But it’s actually a song that he posted back in April of this year, before Jacky Oh tragically passed away in May.

Alongside the video, D.C. used the caption to talk about his music and the significance of staying connected to a higher power. He said,

“My music has always been about real-life experiences and a reflection of my own journey. But what keeps me going is staying motivated and keeping my faith strong, unfortunately, my life is out there for everyone to see, but at least you get to witness me living by the words I preach! You’ve got to stay grounded in prayer! Now, that doesn’t mean I’m not human or that I don’t feel emotions or shed tears… but with the strength God gives you during tough times, you can overcome anything.”

And so because some people thought DC Young Fly was actually using this moment to promote new music, there were a lot of comments saying “something is off” and “he sacrificed Jacky, now he’s about to come up in the music industry” and things to that effect.

But DC Young Fly is a triple threat, if you want to call it that, because he is an comedian, actor and a singer – kinda like Jamie Foxx.

So to us, it looks like DC Young Fly is just sharing how the words to his music still hold true despite the pain he’s in.  But leave a comment and let us know if you think its a bad look or bad timing for him to be posting music like this.  Leave a comment and share your thoughts.
