Pastor John Gray Says He Got What He Prayed For After Getting A Thumbs Up From 45
Pastor John Gray is doubling down on his decision to be apart of 45’s controversial meeting with “inner city pastors” to discuss prison sentencing reform. Since the meeting, the President has given a “thumbs up” to a prison sentencing reform bill that previously seemed hopeless.
Pastor John Gray posted a news article about the President’s decision on his Instagram with the caption:
The purpose I went for. The result I prayed for.
The Instagram post does not allow comments, which is similar to the meeting the “inner city pastors” had with the President, where they were not allowed to question him. In fact, the comment feature on all of Pastor John Gray’s most recent Instagram posts has been turned off.
In this post, Pastor John Gray is essentially saying that he got what he wanted out of the meeting because the President gave a “thumbs up” to the prison sentencing reform bill.
But what about Pastor John Gray’s church members that are giving him a thumbs down for letting the President use his presence for a photo opportunity? Allegedly, the President was planning to give the prison sentencing reform bill a thumbs up months ago. And this meeting with “inner city pastors” aka Black pastors was just a photo opportunity for the President’s re-election campaign, which he has already started.
So whether those “inner city pastors” came to the meeting table or not, the bill was already going to receive the President’s approval. And when you think about it: if the meeting was literally to help the President make a decision on the prison sentencing reform bill, wouldn’t the President have invited people who’s work impacts prison sentencing – like lawmakers, judges, attorneys, etc.?
Yes, pastors help former inmates re-enter society in some instances, but the work of “inner city pastors” doesn’t directly influence prison sentencing. So obviously the President’s decision to give the bill a thumbs up was not a result of meeting with these pastors. And I don’t know why a man as intelligent as Pastor John Gray thinks that it was.
This person on Twitter pretty much summed up my feelings on these pastors meeting with Trump:
After witnessing all of the backlash that Pastor John Gray has received I can’t help but wonder why he didn’t just listed to his wife. He said his wife told him:
My wife @grayceeme told me “If you go, no one will hear what you say. They won’t understand why you’re there. And any good that could come out of it will get lost in translation.” Wise words from a loving, discerning wife.
What do you think of Pastor John Gray continuing to defend his meeting with 45? Leave a comment and let me know!
He said God sent him there, he got what he came for; a open commitment to prison reform out of Trump’s mouth. So, as a nonprofit, let us see how much money he is going to get for his church to focus and make an impact relative to Prison Reform from the Trump Administration for programs and services.
I think he had no business at that table! Pray from afar! Trump was already going to do that! He didn’t pray that 45 would stop being so mean and hateful and disrespectful!! This is a joke!! Photo opportunity for up coming elections!!😡😠😫
