“Black Cockroach”?! Swift’s Ex GF Asia Responds to Cardi B’s Alleged Racial Taunt
Listen ya’ll, I had to take my nails off to type this one…
I was perusing the blogs as I do every morning when I came across a post on Media Take Out that insinuated that reality star Cardi B is RACIST!? Against BLACK PEOPLE?!?!
Now I knew my eyes had to be deceiving me because I could have sworn Cardi B was part Black herself. I mean that Negro nose and afro didn’t come from nowhere.
But MTO claimed that a reader of theirs tipped them off to remarks made by Cardi B at the Love and Hip Hop New York reunion taping in which Cardi B allegedly called Swift’s ex-girlfriend Asia a “black cockroach”.
In doing my research I found the same comments made on the infamous Lipstick Alley by a poster who had attended the Love & Hip Hop Reunion taping back in January. She says,
Didn’t she [Cardi B] call Swift’s girl a cockroach? Is that not a racist term that her ppl use toward dark skin ppl?
Now I don’t know if that’s the same person that told MTO, “I could have swore I heard Cardi call Asia a Black cockroach. But the producers edited it out” but it sounds like it could be.
In any case, I’m always intrigued when I hear that people who are obviously of African descent (whether they know it or not) hate on the features of other people of African descent, so I decided to look into this.
From what I can tell, this is allegedly Cardi B’s mother:
And this is allegedly Cardi B’s dad:
And the Internet fact checkers say that Cardi B is Dominican and part Trinidadian (from one of her grandparents). To me, Cardi B and her sister Hennessy actually look more Black than both their parents, but that’s just my opinion.
Anyway, from my research it seems that Cardi B identifies with Black culture regardless of whether or not she calls herself Black. And she often speaks out against racism agains Black people on her social media platforms.
So it seems like a stretch that she would call a Black woman a “black cockroach”. But hey! I could be wrong, especially since some lighter skin women of color love dark skin Black men but don’t see beauty in dark skin Black women.
That was hard to type.
But let’s face it, colorism is alive and WELL in the Black community. And some lighter skin women of color expect to get chosen over their dark skin sisters.
But even if that was the case, why would Cardi B post this picture of beautiful dark skin model on her Instagram and specifically point out how beautiful she is?
I’m just not buying it. I don’t think Cardi B called Asia a “black cockroach” like someone reported to MTO. And if she did call her a cockroach at all, it was probably not meant as a racist term in my opinion.
To clear this up once and for all I reached out to Asia since she is one person that could verify if this rumor is true or not since she was there and the insult was allegedly hurled at her. Here’s what she had to say:
So if she doesn’t remember Cardi B saying that, then Cardi probably didn’t say it. Case closed. Goodnight.
Wow, why bother with article, just skip to the bit where you defend that ratchet dumpster. Just because she didnt hear it doesnt mean it wernt said. Card is an ugly, bitter, hating ass witch. From the way she presents herself how can you sit there and say she cant have said something like that. Come on. Posts on social media mean nothing by the way. This is a chick who is thinks she’s pretty much White.
